The Ministry of economic and Digital Transformation has submitted the annual report prepared by the National Observatory of telecommunications and the information society (ONTSI).

This edition of the Annual Report "the networked society" performs a thorough analysis of the main topics and indicators in the context of the information society and icts (both the economic and technological and service), including not only a local approach linked to spain, but a comprehensive approach, at the global and european level, which makes contextualizing and compare the spanish results with other countries, thus allowing to obtain an objective view and as complete as possible, of the current situation.

In this regard, as a starting point the report provides a compilation of the most significant information on the information society in the world, to analyse developments in the various communication facilities at the level of coverage of ict (fixed telephony, mobile, fixed broadband mobile broadband), at the economic level (volumes of business and invoicing of the different segments and at different geographic regions) and the use of the Internet.

Subsequently to the report will analyse the development of the information society at european level, describing the status of progress of the states members of the european union in the digital competitiveness based on five key indicators (connectivity, human capital, use of Internet, integration of digital technology and digital public services).

After the description of the information society at the global level and to the report identifies, through the analysis of national and international sources of information and views of experts, the main trends that it is anticipated will mark the technological developments in the coming years. The analysis is looked at from three perspectives, the business sector, citizenship and public administration, which shows the degree of use and impact of the different technological solutions in various fields.

Una vez estudiado el contexto internacional el grueso del informe se centra sobre el análisis de la realidad española de las TIC y la Sociedad de la Información. Con este fin, se trata la digitalización de los hogares españoles, las TIC en las diferentes comunidades autónomas, la penetración en las empresas, tanto pymes y grandes como microempresas; el sector TIC y de los contenidos; y cómo la Administración pública ha integrado las TIC en su actividad y relación con los ciudadanos.

In more detail, in the area of homes in Spain the analysis focuses on ict equipment of households, their spending, connectivity, use of different media and information, the availability of goods and services in the entertainment district, as well as those intended for administration and management staff.

On the scope of business, reference both to the situation of smes and large companies as of microenterprises; in both cases, the data provided by the INE, based on the survey on the use of ict and e-commerce in enterprises, are the main source of supply ” of the analysis.

The behaviour of the ict sector and those contained in Spain is treated as the main economic indicators in the sector (number of companies, turnover, employed persons, volume of investment, gross added value at market prices and foreign trade figures).

Closing the block of the analysis of the information society in Spain, data is reported, of state and movement, on the electronic administration. Analyses progress as regards the incorporation of ict to the public administration, both its processes and its relationship with the citizens.

Finally, there is a chapter to would expert opinion on digital transformation in spain, with particular focus on deepening the role of digitization during the state of alarm recently lived, and how the digital processing can help the country's economic recovery.
