Spain occupies seventh place among the 27 eu countries in the edition of 2022 Contents of the economy and the Digital Society (DESI) just introduced by the european commission. The report highlights the improvement of previous years, especially with regard to the integration of digital technology (post 11, five posts better than in 2021), digital public services (as 5, two above 2021) and human capital (as compared with 12 10 from 2021). Spain is one of the leaders of the eu in terms of connectivity, where ranks 3 for the second consecutive year.
In the field of digital public services Spain ranks fifth of the eu -avanza two seats on the issue of a score 2021- 83.5, well above the eu average (67.3). Is valued here five indicators: Users of electronic administration, forms precumplimentados digital, utilities, Public services for companies and digital Open database.
These indicators show a high level of on-line interaction between public authorities, citizens and businesses . The 73 per cent of internet users in spain participates actively in the electronic management services, compared to 65 per cent of the eu average. Spain has obtained 78 points in the form indicator precumplimentados (which measures the reuse of the transmitted information about other administrations that make life easier for citizens), score that far exceeds the eu average of 64 points, largely thanks to the spanish system does not request information for individuals who can get through the intermediary Platform. With regard to public services aimed at citizens and enterprises, spain has obtained 87 points for the citizens (against the average of 75 points of the eu) and 94 for companies (compared with 82 points of the eu average). Spain obtained very good results in indicator of open, in which it occupies the third position of the eu with a score of 95 per cent (14 percentage points above the eu average).
The report emphasizes that spain is committed to modernizing public administration to make it more accessible for businesses and the general public and is developing proactively new services, especially in the areas of health, digital identification, cybersecurity, mobile applications and integration of artificial intelligence in the sector. The DESI 2022 concludes that “ Spain is at the forefront in electronic administration and digital public services in the eu. Continuing to update its services and infrastructure to adapt to rapid technological developments and to the needs of individuals and businesses. Interoperability at the national, regional and local levels will be key to ensuring a smooth transition and digital efficient levels of administration, maximizing resources and avoiding overlaps ”.
