On 18 march 2024, Connect hosted the second meeting of the working group on age verification under the law of digital services (DSA).

During the meeting, which was opened by the director-General, the members of the electronic administration presented portfolio of digital identity of the eu (EUDI). (Opens in new window)

Member states had the opportunity to take the floor to emphasizing the need for a harmonized approach UE for the verification of age and the important role of EUDI in this regard. Also presented their Latest national approaches to age verification. DG CNECT convened volunteers to participate in a project of proof of concept using EUDI for the verification of the age of + 18.

Next steps

The working group will meet again before the summer. Meanwhile, should start a pilot test of concept on the use of EUDI for the verification of age.

Background

The commission has established a working group on age verification with member states to support the implementation of the DSA . The objective is to promote cooperation with national authorities of member states with experience in this field to identify best practices and standards in the verification of age and develop an approach UE for the verification of age.
