Digital Agenda: open standards to the public sector would save eur 1 billion a year.

26 june 2013

The committee introduced a new policy to assist the public authorities to avoid dependence on a single supplier of ict.

The implementation of the recommendations of this new approach 'against captivity' would enable the public sector to save over eur 1.1 billion per year. For example, open tendering procedures could attract an increasing number of bidders with best offers (normally, doubling the number of bids reduces the amount of the contract by 9 per cent).
