In november 2019, the european commission will organize a workshop to discuss the future of the software and open source hardware.

There are questions that should be made with regard to the future of OSS (open source software) and OSH (open source hardware): Continue the dramatic expansion of open source software? Where is the limit? HOW Open Source Hardware will follow the path of his brother?

The workshop organized by the European Commission will analyse the future of the software and open source hardware and brings together stakeholders to discuss the current challenges, opportunities, r + D + i and also the economic problems and policymaking levels.

More specifically, the workshop will focus on:

  • The role of Open Source as a facilitator of innovation
  • How to open source can contribute to the technological independence of Europe
  • Open-source software in the industry and the public sector.
